It's the first day of school, you sling your backpack over your shoulder
and walk into the school that would be your home for the duration of the next
semester.
Your thoughts are crashing and diving into each other with confusion
and nervousness. You approach the classroom door and wonder if anyone you know
will be in there. You scan the room, looking for a spot that isn't too close to
the teacher but isn't squished next to someone you don't know. You get nervous when thinking about what seat you choose because you know that it will most likely be the seat you have for the rest of the semester. If you choose this wrong, then you will be stuck and there is no going back from that. You finally take your chosen seat and set your backpack down quickly. Maybe you swap glances or a smile with the random person looking at you but your main focus now is watching every person that sets foot through that door.
You wonder
if any familiar face will walk in and plop down right beside you to make your
classroom experience a more enjoyable one. If you were like me on January 14,
2014 then you would know that not one single person walked into your classroom
that you knew. You remember this day because you made a huge decision of what chair
you would remain in for the remainder of the semester. This day is also
remembered because this the beginning of new friends and familiar faces.
This day is remembered.
